Matt, the only thing I've found on Roseville was the attack of April 4,5 1864 by Battles troops of Gano's division. Colonel Judson in Ft. Smith wrote on the 15th that a surgeon with a 25 man escort sent from the fort to Roseville was attacked by 200 men. The surgeon & numerous men were killed. The country around Roseville & Clarksville was thick with guerrillas or rebel troops. The telegraph lines were constantly cut, patrols were skirmishing with them regularly from what i've read, but I dont find anything about a wagon train being attacked. I dont have any idea who may have commanded CSA troops in that area, but Witt & Jackman were therabouts.
