I believe that this is probably my gg-grandfather. He died young, about 1878. My great-grandfather, W.O. Davis, born 1871, in Camden, Arkansas, was only about seven years old when his father passed away, but he remembers his father's name as Ashley Sylvester Davis. W.O.'s mother, Julia Catherine Jones, daughter of John Louis Bridges Jones, remarried a Mr. Patrick, but then she died only a few years later. Mr. Patrick remarried and the family moved to Texas probably about 1885. They lived in Plainview, Texas in the 1890s. He remembered the names of two uncles, Tandy and John. According to my great grandfather, Sylvester Davis' father was Enoch. (This does conform with the 1860 census of Ouachita Co. There is also a brother John, and a brother, T. Walker -- I figure this is Tandy). He did not remember his grandmother's name. This was dictated by W.O. Davis to his wife in 1950, when he was 79 years of age. According to family tradition, Sylvester was a Confederate soldier.
