WILSON, JAMES C. Cpl Enl 25 Jun 1862 at Springfield, AR. Captured 4 Jul 1863 at Helena, AR and sent to MP at Alton, IL then to Ft Delaware, DE 29 Feb 1864. Exchanged 7 Mar 1865. In hospital at Richmond, VA 13 Mar 1865. Died 7 Apr 1865.
Hello. This is the information posted with the 36th Arkansas at the Gerdes site. He was out of White County, Arkansas which is central Arkansas.
By chance, in all of those names, do you have a Solomon Moore who was also with the 36th Arkansas? It is only in this day and time that it is possible to know what became of him. I was told that Solomon Moore was still alive in Richmond when the war ended in 1865, but I bet he died just like Wilson probably did. He would have been my ggg uncle and he was captured at Helena just like Wilson was. He was left behind and I know it would have surely been hard for his Price kin to have marched off from Helena without him.
My gg grandfather was Sgt. Pleas Loyd of the 36th Arkansas who walked home from Texas when the war ended, but died soon after.
