In Response To: Col. Peter V. Green ()

Peter V. Green, born 1838 in North Carolina, appears in the 1850 Cleveland County, NC, census in the household of William Henry Green and Eunicy Green. William Henry Green appears in the 1860 Cleveland County, NC, slave census as the owner of 23 slaves.

In 1860, Peter was living in the household of Fountain L. Cooper, Pennington TWP, Bradley Co, AR. He gave his occupation as that of “Lawyer.” This was probably a boarding situation (he gave no real estate value).

According to contributed trees, his grandparents were Henry Green, 1775-1834, born and died in North Carolina, and Nancy Elizabeth Reeves Green, 1771-1860, born and died in North Carolina. I have not verified this information.

He enlisted in Company C, 5th Arkansas Infantry Regiment, in Little Rock on 10 Jun 1861. He was commanding the regiment by 9 Feb 1863.

I did not find anything relevant to post-war.

Can you give the source that describes his demise? This might turn out to be another Hindman situation.
