Do any of you know what happened to Colonel Witt after he was paroled in June 1865?

I'm learning about the 10th Arkansas and find it fascinating. My gggrandfather, George W. Trawick of Van Buren County, was a corporal in company C. His older brother John was a private in the same company.

I saw on a website that the 10th was near a state of open mutiny in the days before their surrender at Port Hudson. How do I go about learning more about that?

After the Pt. Hudson surrender and his return to Arkansas, George rejoined Col. Witt and other ex-10th infantrymen when their new 10th cavalry regiment was formed early in '64. Is there any record of the size of the cavalry regiment?
