Elias Harris Presley, from Leake County Mississippi, joined Co I, 2nd Arkansas Infantry Regiment in July 1861. Each card of his service record indicates he was enlisted by Lt. Col. Bocage at Powhattan. However, on all of Elias’ pension applications, he states he enlisted at Johnsville in Bradley County. The only Powhattan I’ve located in Arkansas is located in Lawrence County. I would like to know which location would most likely be the correct enlistment site. Is there a published history of the 2nd Arkansas Infantry?
