The web is the tip of the iceberg for research like this.
Just because you don't see much on the web doesn't mean that little exists.

If you can't see the target through the scope, your focus may be too narrow. Broaden the scope of your search by reviewing sources for other regiments and battalions in the same command. They will almost certainly mention your command. Just by doing this with the O.R. and Confederate Veteran Magazine, you'll pull in more references than you can handle in a short time. You should also look for biographical sources on veterans and general or staff officers having a significant connection to the regiment.

Here's another approach --
As you know, most companies organized in specific counties. It's a safe bet that a local historical society exists in each of those counties. Contact them and find out what they know. Oftentimes they have been in existence for years and have publications, local museums and archives. Ask about useful references for Confederate research in those counties.

Another safe bet --
Someone at the Arkansas State Archives has a directory of local historical societies with contact information. Also ask about resources available at the state archives. I'd guess you will discover more than you expected in different types of files at the state archives.

Ask about M. A. thesis and dissertations submitted at colleges and institutions in the State of Arkansas. Using the broad scope approach, you'll find more than a little information that way. For all we know, someone wrote a thesis on your regiment decades ago which has never been published! Check those bibliographies for more sources!

Just think of it as a puzzle with pieces scattered every which way. It's your job to find as many as you can and get the big picture.
