find CSA pension application from AR ?

I need some help with the most misspelled surname ever....
............ NUNNELEE (the rarest of all spellings)

The following list of soldiers is from the online soldiers and sailors site > http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/regiments.cfm
The first 4 names are undoubtedly the same man and possibly the 5th man is too and he's the soldier I'm interested in:
William H. NUNNELEE > Co D 20th MS Inf CSA
W.H. NUNNLEE > Co D 20th MS Inf CSA (aka William H. NUNLEE)
W.N. NOMLEY > Co D 20th MS Inf CSA (aka William N. NANNELEE)
W.H. MUNLER > Co D 20th MS Inf CSA (aka William H. NUNNELEE)
W. MINNELLE > 20th MS Inf CSA
A. MUMLEY > Co E 20th MS Inf CSA

I am trying to identify Walter H. NUNNELEE born abt 1833 AL
married Amanda [unknown and per the 1910 census she had been married before] about 1869 most likely in MS
1850 - not found yet
1860 - not found yet
1870 Meridian, Lauderdale Co MS as Walter H. NUNELLY
1880 Pennington, Bradley Co AR as Walter H. NUNLEY
1900 Pennington, Bradley Co AR as Walter H. NUNNELEE
1910 Pennington, Bradley Co AR as Walter H. NUNNELEE

On the Bradley Co AR GenWeb list of civil war soldiers I found the following:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~arbradle/military/civil_war4.html
"W.H. NUNNELLEE enlisted in Company "D" 20th Mississippi serving from 1861-1865. Wife Amanda. He died Nov 10, 1911."

1st QUESTION > Did the "W.H. NUNNELLEE" service information come from his or his wife's pension application?
OR, was the information found on soldier "W.H. NUNNLEE" assumed to be Walter H. Nunnelee but isn't ?

2nd QUESTION > Was "W.H. NUNNELLEE" Walter or William ? There were NO other Nunnelee's (any spelling) in Lauderdale Co MS or Bradley Co AR when Walter and his family lived there and according to the census he could not read or write..... so where did he come up with the very rare spelling N-u-n-n-e-l-e-e ... (did a family member spell it for him?) or (was the census taker familiar with that spelling...not too likely as the closest Nunnelee's lived all the way across the state)

3rd QUESTION > Walter's wife Amanda died Nov 1916 in Bradley County - how can I find out if either she or husband who died 10 Nov 1911 ever filed for a CSA pension?

My deepest appreciation for any suggestions or guidance with this complicated and perplexing matter.
