Re: Carrollton, Arkansas (Carroll County)

Rob, Unconventional warfare probably means, "burned to the ground." A lot of recruiting took place at Carrollton during the CW. Carroll Co. was a large county at that time. Boone Co. (Harrison) was established in 1869, almost all of it was annexed from Carroll Co. Co.s D,E,F and K of the 16th AR. Inf. Regt. CSA, were almost all recruited at Carrollton. Also old Co. B, 27th Regt. AR. Inf. CSA. My g-g uncle, Americus Robertson, was a member of old co. B, and later co. E. Several skermishes took place in the area of Carrollton during the CW. I would have to do some searching to see what units were involved. A lot of history took place there. Just a wide spot in the road (US412)today. The last buisness I recall being there, was a grocery and gas station run by Earl Dishroon and his wife in the 1970's. The cemetery on the hill is quite interesting. Several CW soldiers buried there.
