Hi Dick,

Thank you for the speedy reply and good information. Now I am wondering if there is a record of men who served under both Dockery and Flippin in a book or other? I am particularly interest in any 'Tyler' surname out of Columbia County, AR. around Moss about 4 mi from Brister, AR. The Post Office was at Palestine.

I have a pension file that states, 'Daniel Cooper Tyler Captain of Company A of the Arkansas Infantry with Col. Flippen and Gen. Dockery. His son, C.C. Tyler served under him.' I have not been able to find any mention of service for father and son. The pension was granted by affidavit. We know some areas were instructed to preserve confederate military records - some areas had instructions to burn them. So the affidavit process became routine for many pension applicants.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Louise
