Sclopeticum & Influenza
In Response To: Re: medical question ()

According to a ranger at Ft. Scott National Historic Site:
sclopeticum refers to a rife/musket ball from a Mexican weapon used during the American-Mexican War.

David is transcribing the Ft. Scott General Hospital Rolls from microfilm for the Fort Scott National Historic Site. In the 1863-1864 time frame he has found the term influenza used as a diagonsis several times, therefore, the term was in use during the CW period.
