Kenneth Byrd posted the two messages below which are excerpts of a book by Merrill Pence (1994) on Dawson's 19th Ark Inf. I too had read somewhere that these soldiers died of measles, which may be the case, but it doesn't appear there is specific evidence of the cause of the death for those buried near Atoka.
