Indeed, Beatty's company used to be part of William "Buck" Brown's (Arkansas) battalion, which reported to Watie's 1st Indian Brigade with 3 companies in mid-December 1864, but was immediately ordered by Department HQ to report to Col. Brooks instead. At the time Brown's men showed up in IT, they had not been properly organized and mustered, which would then be up to Col. Brooks. As you know, at the very end of the war Beatty's company somehow ended up in the IT anyway.
