Re: Ballenger Bluff
In Response To: Ballenger Bluff ()

Between Bull Shoals town and Flippin, (on hwy 178?)there is a cementary, just outside of Bull Shoals. In the cementary are two white headstones, one of which reads Sam Madell,Company A, 14th Arkansas, killed by yankees, killed with Baily Bales on Ballenger Bluff on White River. I believe that Baily Bales' headstone reads the same, except that the names are switched. I have not looked at my pre-impoundment map to see where Ballenger Bluff was. But someone told me that it was somewhere close to where CCC access is located, except it would be on the main channel of the White River. I would also like to know more about the skirmish.
