Bill, there was a man named Julius J. DuBose who served in the 9th Arkansas Infantry, but I believe he was from Jefferson County, Arkansas. He was born c1842 in Tennessee.

He enlisted as a private in the "McCulloch Guards", (old) Co. I, 9th Arkansas Infantry, at Pine Bluff, Arkansas, on July 27, 1861, for twelve months; age 19. He transferred to the "Hardee Guards", Co. H, 9th Arkansas Infantry, on October 24, 1861. He was reported absent sick in a hospital at Corinth, Mississippi, on February 28, 1862. Shortly thereafter, he returned to Jefferson County, Arkansas on sick furlough. The District of Arkansas detained all furloughed men and assigned them to regiments in the Trans-Mississippi Department. DuBose was assigned to Co. C, 26th Arkansas Infantry, with the rank of third lieutenant, at Pine Bluff, Arkansas, on May 12, 1862; age 20. His election as third lieutenant was confirmed on November 6, 1862. He was furloughed again on March 25, 1863; and upon his return was assigned to detached duty in the ordnance department at Fort Smith, Arkansas, on June 10, 1863. He never returned to his regiment, and there is no further military record of him.
