His widow, Mrs. Catherine Orr Billingsley, applied for a Confederate pension from Izard County in 1901. Her application was approved on August 21, 1901 (Pension File No. 19188). She stated in her application that J. N. A. Billingsley had died on September 3, 1898.

As Anthony said, he served in Co. E, 36th Arkansas Infantry. This regiment did not participate in Price's 1864 Missouri Campaign, so, like a lot of infantry soldiers, he was probably temporarily attached to a mounted regiment during the campaign. My guess is the 46th Arkansas Mounted Infantry, but the pension file should help identify the regiment he rode with on Price's raid.
