I suspect it was probably one of those Texas Armstrongs. Of course, I could be wrong. I admittedly did not spend a whole lot of time researching it. I did, however, look at the report in question. I also looked in pt. 2, vol. 48 for another mention of Armstrong. Nothing was there. I'm sure you probably already did that though. I also went back to vol 41 and looked for a suitable Armstrong to no avail. I checked the OR Supplement as well.

Best I can remember (I don't have the books in front of me at the moment), both of those Texas units were operating in northern Louisiana/southern Arkansas through 1864. I think one, or maybe both, of the regiments ended up going back to Texas later in 1865. As you know, things are pretty sketchy that late in the war, especially on the Confederate side. I wish you well on your project.

As for your article on the 5th Illinois at Helena, I would love to see it. I actually just came across a reference to it the other day. I saw it listed in the bibiliography of the most recent issue of the AHQ. And I had planned on ordering it via interlibrary loan, but if you could send me a pdf, that would be great. I appreciate it! Thanks, Rhonda. My email address is brianr@cals.lib.ar.us Thanks again.
