Missing Arkansas reports

In 1895, the U.S. War Department published a list of missing regimental & battery reports from the battle of Chickamauga and from the "battles about Chattanooga," along with a plea for copies of such information "in the possession of veterans or their families."
J.B Polley, a member of Hood's brigade who was wounded early in the battle of Chickamaga and removed from the field, wrote prolifically after the war and summed up the situation with, "because of the loss of a leg at Chickamauga, Gen. Hood made no official report.... If Gen. Robertson or the regimental commanders... made reports, they have been lost;" Polley was brigaded with the Third Arkansas (Polley, Hood's Tx. Brigade, 200).

Listed as missing reports for Chickamauga are ARK. Inf. units: 1st Rifles, 2nd Rifles, 4th, 25th & 31st; artillery: Wiggin's battery; cavalry: 3rd.

Listed as missing reports from the Chattanooga battles are ARK. Artillery: Key's & Humphries' batteries. No ARK. cavalry was engaged.

If any of you are not comfortable posting such information here, or are protecting copyrighted material, I will gladly help you get such reports into the Chickamauga Chattanooga National Military Park files. It certainly appears that some of the history from late 1863 is reported predominately from one point of view, regarding Arkansas' sacrifice and participation, doesn't it. Thanks, Joe
