At Chickamauga, the 3rd Ark. (just as when besides the Emmittsville Road at Gettysburg)was posted on the exposed flank of Robertson's (Hood's) division, without support, in their charge against Davis' division -they were hit on their southern flank by Barnes' brigade, yet did not fold. In their subsequent attack against Wood's division, they were again hit on that flank by Luther Bradley's brigade of Sheridan's division, and did not fold - they performed heroically at Chickamauga on the 19th of September, as they did on the 20th, in Longstreet's crutial breakthrough. As I posted yesterday, the 3rd Ark. failed to file a report of their activity at Chickamauga.

I am a descendant of the McFarlands (i.e. McFarland Gap), a next door nieghbor to Jack Brotherton (i.e. the Brotherton House), and a great, great nephew to Dr. Rudicil (the 6th GA Cav.'s surgeon at Chickamauga). I also hold the grand distinction of being the only person Allen Pitts has posted a favorable message about on these Civil War Message Boards in the last few weeks (though I did have to contact him off-page and confront him with a few facts to earn that distinction). I agree with your complaint (as well as that of K. Burke & R. Cofer on the GA. Message Board), in as much as I may have some knowledge on Chickamauga that Mr. Pitts does not possess.

There was a time when Mr. Pitts made contributions and suggestions, not criticisms, sarcasms and spelling corrections, on these websites. In the spirit of Easter and the Passover, let us pray that he rehabs to his former self. Thanks, Dr. Joe Bradley
