Dick, thanks for mentioning David's well-researched, well-written book on Clarkson's Battalion. I've been meaning to write a review of the book, but I just can't seem to break away from my research long enough to do it.

I also still intend to write a review of Kenneth Noe's excellent book on the battle of Perryville, as well as a review of Kenneth Radley's outstanding "Rebel Watchdog," a ground-breaking study of the Confederate provost-guard system.

It is just me, or are we seeing a resurgence of serious Civil War books? We went through a kind of dry spell a few years ago.
