Family lore says my gg grand father, Isom Edwards, b: 1/22/1824 served in Co B, 2nd Regiment (Cherokee), Arkansas Cavalry from 1862 to 1865. I have not be able to find a roster or other information for any such outfit. That is until tonight (maybe), a post on this board from 1/27/2008 discusses the 2nd Cherokee Mtd Vols. The subject of that posting was born in Surry County, NC and was there for the 1850 census. So was Isom. The 1860 census has Isom in Benton County, AR. The subject of the previous post enrolled in Benton County in 1862. Same year as Isom enlisted.

My questions:

1 Are these two units, one and the same?

2 Is there any evidence that Isom Edwards served in it/them?
