The correspondence I received was from Stephen E. Osman, Site Manager, Historic Fort Snelling. It dates from 1987. Osman stated in his letter that he had two books that had belonged to Wade and in which Wade had written notes and "an oilcloth writing portfolio of Wade's and several family papers." The material had come to Osman from an aunt "who saved it from a bonfire in her neighbor's back yard" in Houston.

It is my intention to write an article about the battery. There does not seem to be enough material for a book.
