Who was "Brown Taylor"?

It appears that most of the members of Co. H, Clarkson's Battalion of Cavalry, Independent Rangers CSA, were paid on February 12, 1862 by one "Brown Taylor". This company H was formerly Co. K (1st org.), 1st Cherokee Mtd Vols (Watie's Regt). Clarkson's Battlion wasn't formed until April 1862 so I assume this was a payment to Watie's Regt though the records for the other companies don't show that they were paid by Brown Taylor.

In the winter of 1862-1863, Lt Col R.C. Parks, 1st Cherokee Mtd Vols, was attempting to get the regiment paid and wrote that Brown Taylor had their returns. He believed Taylor he was at Ft Washita at the time and was requesting their regimental returns be forwarded so the regiment could get paid. (The 1st CMV was in winter camp near Webbers Falls, IT.)

I cannot find a "Brown Taylor" in the area. There are certainly many names with the first or middle initial "B".

Can anyone help identify this person?
