JS DEANE surgeon/2 Lieut Stirmans

I have been reseaching 4 graves in Pittsburg, TX and have one very strong candidate match with an Arkansas surgeon (14th Power's)/2 Leiut (1st Stirman's), James S. Deane. the crude chiseled boulder on the grave says "DOCT J.S. DEANE" & "1863". Deane's CSR ends with parole from Vicksburg 8 July 1863.

These graves are glaringly out of place in the cemetery for several reasons, primarily they are all positioned facing West (backwards). They also have a story told by the farmer who buried them. According to the story they were "Northern Catholic soldiers who arrived in Pittsburg and died" however, in the verbal retelling this could have been altered from almost anything. The primary interpretation of "Northern Catholic" is "Union" but I have found NO matching names on the Union side. Other burials with Deane are SN BELL 1863, AH BELL 1863, & J DICKSON 1865.

There was also a John Dixon/Dickson/Dison with Deane in Stirman's and he too was paroled from Vicksburg 8 July 1863 where his CSR ends. Dixon was illiterate as his card is signed with an X.

If anyone recognizes any of these names from any AR CSA, I'd love to talk and try to solve this 130 yr old mystery.
