checking on mother's side: James P. Hawkins b 1822/3 in AL, came to AR little before 1840 - have him living in Madison, Boone, Johnson counties in AR (near Huntsville I believe) died between 1900 and 1910, do not where he is buried, but did he serve in the confederacy? His wife's name was Frances, and he had several children,one of which was James Jr born about 1853/4/5 in AR. He lived on farm next to a Alexander Hawkins (kin?) but have not been able to find any more about this Alexander. I do not even know who the father was of James P. Sr - if any military records perhaps they would show "something" about the man. thank you in advance for any assistance.
