Confederate heroes

A week after the battle of Prairie Grove, Hindman ordered each regimental, battalion, and battery commander in his army to nominate a private or NCO who had distinguished himself in the fight. Hindman then ordered each division commander (Shoup, Frost, and Marmaduke) to review the nominations and select one man from each division as the most deserving.

In reviewing the Peter Alexander Papers a long time ago, I came across the names of FOUR nominated soldiers (Horace W. Branham, William Gray, John Howerton, M.M. McCafferty) and brief accounts of their heroic actions on the field of battle.

My question is this: Has anyone found the names of the other thirty-five or so nominees, or the names of the three finalists? I assume this information, if it exists, is in the Alexander Papers but, if so, I missed it.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
