Re: 10th Arkansas Militia
In Response To: 10th Arkansas Militia ()

Bob, in the prewar Arkansas militia, a regiment was organized on a county basis, with the individual companies being generally organized on a township basis. However, like most everything else in Arkansas, there were exceptions. Men living across the county line were sometimes included in the militia muster of the neighboring county. In the 10th Arkansas Militia -- the militia regiment of Johnson County -- I've identified a few men who actually, according to the 1860 census, lived across the county line in Franklin, Newton and Pope counties. There may be a few others I haven't identified yet.
