The Arkansas in the Civil War Message Board

"Incomplete at best."
Excellent way of saying there are no real records.
I have been told in the past that unless someone surfaced as having been in prison and then admitted to being in
Dobbins 1st Arkansas Cav., it was hard to prove.
I feel the records were incomplete for one reason and that was if the Yankees got hold of them, then there would be
big trouble for those mentioned, so no records meant there was no way to track the men.
I have also been told that the Yankees hated the 1st as they gave them such fits.
My source for this information was this board.
As I mentioned just earlier on this board, my ancestor Lt. Fielding Price, was with the
1st Arkansas and he died in the Yankee Prison in Little Rock on Feb. 1, 1865.
It was my experience that I did not have to prove that my man was with a certain group for the monument to be obtained.
I just filled out the paperwork and submitted my claim.
