Larry, there was a Martin Van Buren Sutton, of Columbia County, Arkansas, who enlisted in Co. B, 33rd Arkansas Infantry, and was mustered into service at Camp White Sulphur Springs, Arkansas, on August 19, 1862; age 23, born in North Carolina. He died of disease shortly after he joined the regiment, specific date and place not stated, but believed to be in the Confederate army hospital at White Sulphur Springs. His mother, Mrs. O. E. Sutton, filed a claim for his accumulated pay and allowances on March 12, 1863.
