The Arkansas in the Civil War Message Board

Thanks for the kind offer of help.
All I know about Sgt. Pleasant Harrison Loyd of the 36th Arkansas is that he was born in Tennessee.
Even finding that he served with the 36th was almost a miracle in itself brought about
by the good people on this board. The only other clue I have on him is that
he attended the college at Fayetteville in the fall of 1861, came home to the central Arkansas area
the spring of 1862 and joined the 36th then. The part about the college is strictly oral history
but it does fit with his military record.
Checking Mt. Holly will probably not be helpful as I was told, "they dug up all the non-paying customers."
I am in the same boat as you with my Fielding Price.
However, I do have some family buried at Mt. Holly that were CSA connected
but they died after the war, for the most part with broken spirits and heavy hearts.
If you will check that book, Rebel's Hell, you may find something if he was in the Federal Prison.
One theing the Union Army did most of the time was keep good records.
Feel free to let me know if you hit paydirt.
Good luck.
Linda
