Don, it sounds like your family made far more than their fair share of sacrifice for "The Cause." Five of my g-g-grandfathers served in the same company in the 38th Arkansas, but incredibly all of them managed to survive the war. They were neighbors when the war started, and after the war their offspring all intermarried, ultimately resulting in "Yours Truly."

Jeff Bratton, who owns the 10th Arkansas diary, posts excerpts here every so often. I don't know his email address (and it doesn't show up in his posts), but maybe he'll run across our discussion and get back to you direct. Perhaps you all can work out something to get you a copy of the diary.
