The Arkansas in the Civil War Message Board

info on 21st Ark.

My gr gr grandpa was a member of McCarver's 14th Ark that was combined with the 17th Ark. after 1st Corinth. These 2 reg. formed the 21st Ark. I know they went to Tupelo and where in camp there My grand pa died in a hospital near tupelo 23 Aug. 1862. There is no official burial site for him. I'm looking for any info on the 21st while in camp around Tupelo. If I could find out where they where camped around there and where the regements hospital was, maybe I could find the cemetery he is buried in. There are many unknown confederate soldiers buried in and around Tupelo I would just like to narrow it down some. I have been in contact with some guys on the Mississippi web site they are looking for me also. My grandpa's info:
Preston B. Brickey, Co. F 21st Ark Inf., died in a hospital near Tupelo 23 Aug 1862. Don't know from wounds or deseases but suspect desease as many where sick retreating from Corinth. any inf o would be appreciated
