Under the provisions of Act 91, "An Act for the Relief of Certain Soldiers of the Late War Between the States," approved by the Arkansas legislature on April 1, 1891, applicants for Confederate pensions were required to be residents of the State for the preceding twelve months. If a pensioner subsequently moved to another State, his or her pension was cancelled, and a new application would have to be made to the pension board of the new State (all of which, as I understand it, had similar residency requirements). There are many examples of this, involving both those who moved from Arkansas to another State, and those who had moved from another State to Arkansas.
