You've been a huge help to me concerning my Johnson Civil War ancestors, most recently Henry J. Johnson, Arkansas. Since you verified that he died as a POW at Rock Island, IL, now I have a question concerning his widow. Since she remarried fairly quickly after his death, that means she was automatically disqualified from a widow's pension, right? So, logically thinking, there are no pension files for him, right?

Plus, I'm happy to report that a kind volunteer at FindaGrave.com lived near Rock Island and yesterday provided a photo of Henry's grave at the Confederate Cemetery there!
