Thanks Bryan.

Is there a roster of DeRosey Carroll's regiment? I'm trying to locate his son-in-law, Algernon Sidney "A.S." Cabell.

A.S. Cabell was captain and AQM under Gen Wm Steele at the beginning of 1863 and major and chief QM at the end of 1863. I''m trying to determine where he was before and after 1863.

He was married in Franklin Co. to the daughter of DeRosey Carroll in 1859. The marriage record shows Cabell as a resident of Ft Cobb, Indian Territory.

In July 1861, his son is born in Ft Smith (Maj Gen DeRosey Carroll Cabell). Ft Cobb was abandonned by US troops in April/May 1861.

The next reference I find for him is January 1863 when Cabell is in Bonham TX advertising to hire or buy wagons and teams to haul supplies for Steele's command in Indian Territory. The last reference I find is Steele's report of events in 1863, written in Feb 1864.

After the war A.S. Cabell was sheriff in Logan Co., 1874-1880. He's buried in Charleston, Franklin Co. AR.
