The Arkansas in the Civil War Message Board

Re: 3rd Arkansas Letters/Diaries/Info

Thanks again to all. Assuming Hurricane Ike doesn't blow Houston away before then, I will head to LR in a week or so and retrieve what I can. Also there appear to be some 3rd Ark. letters at U of A in Fayetteville, and there is a repository for Hood's Brigade at the Simpson Confederate Research Center in Hillsboro, TX. Anyone worked with either of these places before?

On an ancillary note, can anyone suggest a good place to start for Army of Northern Virginia records (other than the usual Official Records, Confederate Military History, etc?) Day-to-day operations, muster rolls, newspaper accounts, and the like, anything that mentions Arkansas troops fighting in the East.

Thanks to everyone, you've all been very helpful and I appreciate it.
