Just a thought: You may want to see if he ever attended a veterans reunion in his part of the world, if he lived that long?
With the passing of time, it is my understanding that the Union and the Confederate men would attend the same
gatherings. I have seen some nice photos made at such gatherings.
My own great grandfather who was a former CSA private always sat on the front pew of the Baptist church
along with a former Union officer. Neither one of them could hear very well and according to my late great aunt, they would
both come out behind when singing the songs. She always chuckled and laughed about that even up in her advanced years.
