Hello. May I ask, where was this Buck from? Do you know?
Was it western Tennessee or perhaps North Carolina?
My ggg grandfather was a man named Frederick Buck. One of
his daughters was named Emily and they were all from Pitt County, North Carolina
which is where people are searching for the remains of the" Lost Colony" on Buck's Ridge.
The Bucks were in Shelby County, Tennessee by 1839 as that is when their last child
was born and then on into 1840's and 50's.
There were quite a few of them around that area according to the census and what
I have read in the old papers.
My gg grandmother, Emily Buck, married W. D. Bayne, my gg grandfather, in September
of 1843 in Shelby County.
After the Civil War, the Bayne family came on to Arkansas in 1869.
I know that most of those Buck connections ended up in Arkansas, but I have never been able to
pick up on them. I really think some of the extended family was already here, when the Bayne family
rolled into the central Arkansas area.
If your Buck was one of my connections, he probably had gray eyes, a certain kind of strong nose,
and a good sense of humor. So yes, I would love to know about the Buck connections.
Good luck in your search.
Linda
