Edward C. Malone, 11th and 17th AR Infantry

I have been trying for years to get at least a general idea where my grandmother's uncle Edward Malone may have died. His last record for the 11th and 17th (Company G, and he had also been in the 11th Inf and then the 2nd, after the capture of others in the 11th at Island No. 10) has these dates and this note: Company Muster roll for Dec. 31, 1862 to Apr 30, 1863 "dated Aug 17, 1863." Under remarks: "Absent sick at hospital." I've used Anthony Rushing's Ranks of Honor to try to solve this problem. At first I thought Clinton, LA was the best possibility. But I recently saw information (didn't write down the source unfortunately) that stated that Co. G was stationed at Georgetown, MS from Dec. 31-Apr 30, 1863. I would really appreciate any opinions on where Edward Malone may have actually died, and where he may be buried. Thanks for any help.
