The Arkansas in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Bryan H. Re :Gerdes Page correction

Anthony,

That's a link to an off-site article -- a Tennessee GenWeb site, I believe -- whose title is misleading. The article actually refers to Arkansans of Tennessee birth, as you noted, not residents of Tennessee.

Unfortunately, the Gerdes site cannot be changed. It is being preserved as a memorial to Ed Gerdes, no changes allowed. That's a big mistake, in my opinion. A lot of Arkansas researchers rely on the site, and it is increasingly out of date. My own research, which forms the bulk of the site, has made a lot of breakthroughs since Ed's death -- much new information is available and should be posted. I've been using this message board to post some of that new information. In addition, my dear friend's eyesight deteriorated badly in his latter days, resulting in many transcription errors. Those need to be corrected, but, as I said, the webpage is pretty much etched in stone now.

When does your tour of duty in Iraq end? My nephew (Regular Army) has just been alerted for his fourth tour.
