I am following the Capt. John Hale you mentioned in your post and whose name is on (I've seen it) the memorial that was at the old Courthouse. He was, according to my research which I believe was from the National Archives, a member of Company M, 45th Cavalry Regiment.

I can't seem to get very far beyond that, but he is one of my ancestors. I have quite a bit on his descendants but little on him. What's your interest in him?
