Linda, actually, Dobbins' gr-grandson, Bob Dalehite, researched his ancestor and wrote an article about him in the Phillips County local history quarterly. Mr. Dalehite also donated his findings to the U of AR. It appears Dobbins separated himself from his family after he went to Brazil. Perhaps the 1874 sighting is wrong, and perhaps the family legend that he was killed in the jungle is correct.
