Benjamin C. Jones seems to have dropped out of sight. As you may know, Lemoyne's understrength 17th Arkansas Regiment was consolidated with four companies of McCarver's 14th Arkansas Regiment at Corinth, Mississippi, on May 15, 1862, to form the 21st Arkansas Regiment. Company C of the 17th Arkansas became Company I of the 21st Arkansas. The first muster roll of the consolidated was for the period ended June 30, 1862, when Private Jones was still absent sick. He never returned to duty. I can't find any record of him in any other Arkansas regiment, nor is there any record of a discharge for disability.
