Thanks Johnny Reb. We will use the info. The mustering out date for the 57th (Dec.1866)is the same as that given for the 125th USCT, The 125th was supposedly the last Volunteer unit in service. Huh ? One thing I'm looking for is the route of the 57th to NM. The term " Bufflao Soldier" was started by the Comanches and if the 57th went the Red River route to NM they would have been the first Black soldiers they had seen. I don't think the Kansas Black cavalry units operated anywhere near that far west during the War. Thanks again. Earl Pittman(Fort Stanton Foundation)
