I have recently found information on my GG grandfather Joseph R. Atkins. Apparently he was with the 18th Texas infantry, company F. He was reported to have died in Arkansas in 1863. He lived in Saline Co., Ark. prior to the war. He must have gone to Texas to sign up with his brothers-they were in Company K-18th Texas Infantry.
They all made it back to Texas. This is very new to me-I don't know where to start to look for death or burial records.
