Oooppss,

I don't know why I was thinking that Thomas Carr lived and died in Faulkner County, He was recruited from and died in Jefferson County, which does not change any of my other observation and comments. Yankee Cavalry in Jefferson County in 1864 were ruthless and had a network of informants to the point that Maraduke commented that there were no loyal southerners in Jefferson County.
