The Arkansas in the Civil War Message Board

Hey Bryan-update, White County, your area

Hello. I just received my copy of the 2009 White County Heritage published by the White County Historical
Society. I was so happy to find as complete, as they can get it, list of Civil War soldiers. The list was
compiled by Leroy Blair from the cemeteries, etc.
As it shows quite a few with the 36th Arkansas, several from the 8th Arkansas and at least one from Dobbins Cav.
I even knew the descendents of James Madison Moye of Sidon who lived to be 102 and was with Dobbins
and sent those folks a message through the grapevine about that. Antioch has at least three burials of
folks who connected to all those Prices.
Of course there is not a listing for Lt. Fielding Price of the 1st Arkansas Cav-Dobbins; Sgt. Pleas Loyd of the 36th,
or Solomon Moore of the 36th who was taken at Helena and never came back.
Nor are the Guthrie boys-Owen and Frederick listed, one of whom fell at Shiloh and the other who died in the
Yankee Prison and served with the 10th Arkansas. They were born and lived in what became White County.
Since I can name 5 myself, you have to wonder how many were never found. But thank God someone tried.
Thanks for letting me share-
Linda
