According to my great grandmother, Sarah Elmina Beam (Sallie), daughter of Peter, as told to my cousin Jimmie Lea Millard who lived with her part time in her old age, the name Beam was changed from the Cherokee name of Sunbeam. i have not been able to confirm this. Peter was killed by "Bushwackers" at Cedar Creek east of Parks, Arkansas on Highway 28 on the Fourche River. the five children left orphans had to live with families willing to take them in. Her mother Frances had died when she was a small child and she saw her father killed. i have quite a bit of info on this line.
