George Grandville Dunn, born Rutherford Co. Tenn., died 1889 was my great grandfather. My name is James Clay Hall. My father's name was Vonnie A. Hall, and his mother was Joemma Ruth Dunn Hall. Her father was George Grandville Dunn as per your description. I have the coin purse he carried in the civil war. Family history has it that Grandville became ill with pneumonia during his time with the army and returned home where his recovery took a year or more. Oral statements to my by my grandmother, Joemma, were that he "was almost dead" when some man brought him home wrapped in quilts in the bed of a wagon. Things were loose in those days. I suspect he just was so ill he couldn't contiune and just "left for home". I am very interested in this part of my family history and this is the only link I have found on the internet that has his name correct, his death year correct and his birth place correct. Apparently I am on to something here. If you folks are still out there I would appreciate any help or info you could give me by emailing me direct at j.c.h@comcast.com . I am sixty-five and live in Memphis, Tennessee.
Thank you, JCH.
