Re: 10th Arkansas Militia -- George Grandv'l Dunn

Hello.
It would appear that your ancestor, George G. Dunn came to Arkansas like a lot of other people for the land.
Since he is listed with the 10th, that is the unit that the Guthrie boys who were born in what is now
White County served with, not the same company, but still the 10th.
Those two that are listed both died in service, Owen, right after Shiloh and the other Frederick up
north in prison. They were my ggg uncles.
I believe the 2nd Cav, Union, was who their brother Edmund joined after he deserted the 35th in Little Rock.
The De Vall's Bluff that is mentioned is about 30 miles directly east of me on old Hwy 70, a state road.
It still exists and is a small river town that has some of the best barbacue sandwiches around at Craig's.
It would appear that if your ancestor went back to Tennessee and died there in 1889, he had a much better
ending than the Guthries of the 10th had.
If I scrambled something, forgive me, as I just wanted you to know that George G. Dunn probably fared the
best with the choices he made.
